Michelle Landsberg Award

The Michele Landsberg Award recognizes young women who are outstanding feminists in the area of media or activism, and who are attending a formal learning institution. The Canadian Women’s Foundation initiated the award to honour the tremendous impact that Michele has had as an advocate and role model for all women in Canada, and to celebrate the next generation of women who are working toward the goal of social equality for women and girls.

The 2006 recipient, Kiera Chion, is exactly the kind of young feminist that represents the spirit of this award: determined, articulate, principled, witty, passionate: a feminist activist who uses journalism to help change the world, and whose writing is infused with and illuminated by feminist analysis.
