2007 Violence Prevention Grants Announced
CWF is pleased to announce that we have awarded 57 violence prevention grants to a variety of interesting, grassroots initiatives across Canada (including second-year funding for four groundbreaking teen violence prevention programs).
These grants, which total $1,144,290, are possible thanks to the success of Shelter from the Storm, our valued individual donors, and the following corporate partners and funds:
- BMO Financial Group
- The Body Shop STOP Violence in the Home Fund
- Hbc Foundation Fund
- Rogers Media
- The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation Fund
- Scotiabank Fund
- The Social Justice Fund at Tides Canada Foundation (for B.C. grants)
- Winners and HomeSense
- The Aimee Quitevis Memorial Fund
- and The Tony McNaughton Memorial Fund
CWF gives priority to women and girls who face multiple challenges. Therefore, many of the initiatives involve rural, northern, Aboriginal, immigrant and refugee women/girls, Black women and women of colour, women with disabilities and Deaf women, older women, and street involved women/girls.
