Inuvik Youth Centre Society, Delta Girls’ Project
2009-2012: $112,000 over three years
The Inuvik Youth Centre provides supports for ‘at-risk’ Aboriginal youth through drop-in services, and weekly programs focusing on issues such as suicide prevention, parenting, leadership, literacy, diabetes prevention, and recreation. The Centre also promotes cultural awareness and identity amongst youth.

Funding from CWF supports the Delta Girls Project, which empowers Aboriginal and Inuit girls by teaching them about violence prevention, media literacy; health promotion, anti-racism, and healthy sexuality. Using multi-media equipment, the girls develop their own workshops about key issues and present them to girls in outlying communities around the Beaufort Delta.
